Computer science is fundamental to understanding and participating in society, and it is valuable for every student to learn as part of modern education. Computer science provides students with a critical lens for interpreting the world around them. It prepares all students to be active and informed contributors to our increasingly technological society whether they pursue careers in technology or not. Computer science can be life-changing, not just skill training. ~ www.csforallteachers.org
Computer science involves both the study of algorithms and the problem-solving situations to deliver them through computer hardware and software. These solutions may not even require using a computer. Many computer science elements can be completed with just a pencil and paper.
When we link the elements of digital literacy and computer science and give students opportunities to put them into practice across our curriculum, we empower our students by giving them a means of showcasing their learning by developing real-world communication, expression, and critical thinking skills.
